Staying interested in life. Not becoming bored. I suspect.
That’s a key to survival. To a long and productive life. Of course, there are no guarantees.
But it helps to be in love. With life. One must learn to care. Not only about
one’s self. But about others. Or about something. Anything. Material or
immaterial. For instance, I’m in love with abstract thought. With philosophy. With
questions. That will never have clear and
definitive answers. But I still seek out the unanswerable. By postulating. By
pushing my imagination. Beyond normal limits. Making up wishful scenarios. Wishful
answers. Even pretending to play god. So very well. That I begin to feel like the
Almighty. No folks. That ain’t dangerous. God has amazing self-control. God is
perfect. Knowing how to handle would-be gods. Like me. --Jim Broede
