Too tired to live a meaningful life.
Listening is an art. One that should be better cultivated. I find that most people don’t know how to listen. They talk too much. Especially at times that they should be listening. Or like certain of my friends, they merely shut down. They don’t talk. And they don’t listen. That’s sad. Because I’m willing to listen. At virtually any time. I’m known as a talker. But I talk mainly to inquire. To ask questions. To satisfy my curiosity. And I want my friends to respond. So that I can listen. To the fullest. But some of ‘em just clam up. Maybe they have nothing to say. Maybe they have closed their minds and their mouths. And become zombies. Even when they aren’t in bed. They tend to fall asleep. Or go into a state of lethargy. I try to wake them. To prod them. And they tell me, go away. Don’t bother me. And suggest that I talk too much. They don’t want their minds stirred. Often, their excuse is the refrain, ‘I’m too tired.’ Yes, too tired to talk. Too tired to listen. Too tired to live a meaningful life. –Jim Broede
