More in keeping with my style.
Over the recent years, I haven't celebrated Christmas all that much. I've taken it rather matter-of-factly. I don't ever get sentimental over Christmas. Jeanne and I pretty much stopped putting up trees since the kids left the nest. Thanksgiving, Easter, the 4th of July, even Bastille Day, I let slide. Oh, we had Christmas when I was a kid. But I always remember the holidays as hectic. Too hectic. Everybody trying to get into the celebratory mood. And I think it was a forced thing. Anyway, if we make every day special -- well, then Christmas is just another day. Another among 365/366 special days. In that sense, maybe I can say I celebrate Christmas year-round. Every day. Same with birthdays. I think that in Paradise every day is the best day. It really doesn't matter the day. If one is permeated by love, one really doesn't differentiate between the days. They're all lovely days. To me, any day that I'm in love is a nice day. I could easily live without the traditional Christmas tree, and I have. Instead of a tree, I'd think most spouses and lovers would be better off writing love letters or poems to each other on Christmas. Now that would be a nice new tradition to introduce.
