Give me the life of ancient Athens.

I don't want to live like a Spartan. In too frugal a manner. And without luxuries. The Athenians had a better outlook on life. They liked to cultivate the mind. And enjoy the finer things of life. The Spartans were good warriors. They'd march off to war. And live in dirt and squalor. But the Athenians went to the theater. And liked to live in peace. I have often wondered about people that like war. They're sick. I'd rather sit by the seaside. And read a book. And make love. Give me the life of ancient Athens. Keep me away from Sparta. --Jim Broede
