As I learn to speak Italian, I try to take it all with a great deal of levity. Yes, I am trying to have fun. For instance, I tell people, 'Io sono un giornolista.' Which means I am a journalist. But then I quickly follow with 'Io sono un stupido asino.' Which means I am a stupid ass. And that invariably draws laughter. Lets everyone know that I practice self-deprecating humor. Occasionally, I'm advised to be more serious. Because people might really think I'm a stupid ass. Fact of the matter is, I am a stupid ass. At least, sometimes.
