Once a politician, always one.

Power corrupts. Political power, that is. I suspect that bothers Barack Obama. Or any politician that tries to be honest and fair. It's virtually impossible. Eventually, one is gobbled up by the system. One has to play politics. That's the nature of politics. You play the game, or you are consumed. Destroyed. There is no such thing as an honest politician. Because if one becomes honest, one is no longer a politician. To be a politician, one must master the craft of dishonesty. One must learn to wield power. In selfish ways. In corrupt ways. Some politicians deceive themselves. Into thinking they are honest and forthright. They have become masters of lying to themselves. The closest thing to an honest politician is the one that acknowledges that he is dishonest. That's the first step on the road to complete honesty. But one never arrives at full honesty. Unless one leaves politics. No longer practices politics. And then one is no longer a politician. But then, that may just be another political tactic. Part of the game. Once a politician, always a politician. --Jim Broede
