Better late than never.
The package arrived. Seven weeks after it was posted to me in Minnesota. Yes, that's the snail-pace Italian postal system. I gather that the package arrived in Italy around Dec. 17. Only to languish in Italy's customs and postal system until today. The package contained one of my prescription drugs. One that isn't all that vital. So I lived without it. My Sardinian true love tends to rush, rush, rush. To get things done pronto. But she isn't typical Italian in that regard. Seems to me that typical Italian is to move ever so slowly. Don't hurry. Put off today what can just as easily be accomplished in a month or two. Or maybe never. The Italian mail delivery system would make the old-fashioned Pony Express seem like the model of efficiency. And hey, give kudos to the modern-day U.S. Postal Service. It's top-notch compared to the Italians. And another thing, I had to pay 20 euros custom fee before they'd give me the package. Anyway, I'm grateful. That the package arrived. Better late than never. --Jim Broede
