Fulfilling my purpose in life.
The nicest thing about biking is weight control. Because it’s aerobic exercise. Not overly strenuous. But comfortable. And long-lasting. I biked 51 miles yesterday. Hardly ever go less than 30 miles in a day. The thing is that I never miss a day. Since April 1, I’ve logged 3,223 miles. And my aim is to eclipse 4,000 miles by the end of July. So little wonder that I’ve lost 12 pounds. Which I think puts me at my most ideal weight. A svelte 164 pounds. I’m about 6 feet tall. I think daily exercise is one of the pleasures of life. Physical and mental. I don’t venture all that far from home on the bicycle. Maybe 10 miles. And I have favorite circular routes of a mile or two. Which I keep repeating. Sometimes 30 or 40 or 50 times a day. I’m focused more on exercise than anything when I’m biking. Getting into a rhythm. Getting my body to work like a well-coordinated machine. And then time for a perfect break. A mental break. Sitting down. To write my blog. And love letters. Which helps me fulfill my purpose in life. –Jim Broede
