I'll risk shining in the dark.
Our water is suspect. Can’t drink it. Can’t even use it to boil potatoes. Until further notice. That’s the cautionary warning issued today by the mayor of Carbonia. Apparently the city’s water system has gone kaput. Don’t know the details yet. But my Italian true love and I have never even sipped the water coming out of our taps. Or for that matter, water from municipal systems in any Italian city. Better safe than sorry. We buy bottled water instead. We used to boil potatoes and pasta and the likes in tap water. But no more. Not until we hear from the mayor again. One might think we live in a Third World country. But even at my home in Minnesota, I don’t drink the water. Comes out my own private well. I’m loaded up on bottled water. However, I trust most of the public water systems in the USA. My true love says I’d be crazy to trust the ones in Italy. Though I'll take a shower tonight. And risk shining in the dark. –Jim Broede
