I am an explorer.
When I’m in Italy, I travel. But I don’t have
to. Because I’m already in Italy.
And that’s where I want to be. I am
capable of appreciating and savoring my immediate environs. And I don’t have to see all of Italy. After all,
that would be impossible. Just as
impossible for me to see all of America.
Or all of Minnesota,
for that matter. I’m at ease settling in
one place. The city of Carbonia on the Mediterranean
island of Sardinia. Four winters there, and I am
still exploring. Finding something new and delightful and fascinating virtually
every day. –Jim Broede
