Maybe the pros don't care enough.

Poor Ron. Yes, I’m lamenting a little bit. About my Alzheimer-riddled friend. He’s been kicked out of his nursing home. Because he’s ‘unmanageable.’  That means he’s back living with his daughter Julie and son-in-law Rick.  For now. Until there’s another viable option. Such as a nursing home that will accept him.  Strange thing. Ron’s manageable. When with Julie and Rick.  He stayed with them for five years.  But can’t blame Julie and Rick. For wanting more time to themselves.  So they put Ron in a plush nursing home. Costing $10,600 a month. You’d think for that kind of money, Ron would get first class care. Including plenty of one-on-one attention.  Yes, expert care. But that’s not the way nursing homes operate. They want docile and easy-to-manage residents. Funny thing. I’m pretty much able to manage Ron. So are Julie and Rick.  We aren’t professionals. But we do it.  Meanwhile, the $10,600-a-month professionals. They can’t do it. Maybe the professionals don’t care enough. –Jim Broede
